I am a firm believer that most people appreciate the art of photography and if given the choice, they choose their photographer based on quality and value, not just price. And as a mother myself, when selecting a photographer to capture our family moments, not just quality but the option to purchase our session images with permission to print is also a must in this digital age. Luckily, there are lots of talented and professional photographers available. And with that, the choice becomes more and more difficult each year. But every year when it is time to update our portraits, I choose the same professional photographer, not just because she is a dear friend, but because these moments are irreplaceable, and why go to the trouble of planning a session if I am unsure of the resulting product.
This is the part where I educate you, the current and future client, about selecting a professional photographer. And if you are one of the lucky ones to call yourself a professional; you should always strive to do better, educate yourself, and be part of not just the photography community but your client’s community. Be more than just a mom with a camera or someone with a great photographic eye, become a legit tax paying professional photographer and respect the profession. Everday someone new, sometimes a few someones, purchase a DSLR, start a facebook page and bam, they are a {professional} photographers. With a zero threshold profession, I am sure you, you yourself, have considered becoming a professional photographer. Don’t lie; I know I make it look easy right. And it is really just my fancy pants camera capturing those great moments, right? Let me reassure you, we all start somewhere, but please when you have taken the leap to be part of this creative profession, consider more than just the images as a hallmark of your work, consider what it takes to be a professional and produce professional quality portraits, and get paid for your time and talent. Think about making this career choice, respectable and know the difference between a snapshot and a crafted professional image with proper lighting, exposure and composition.
So on to the good stuff, I am often hired to photograph a moment in time, but rarely I am hired to photograph a day in the life documentary session, where I am there for several hours just documenting daily life as it unfolds. I have done this with both my boys and looking back at those images, it brings me right back to everyday life and what is most important; the relationships our children have with us. And I want to give this gift to one lucky family. Here is a sampling of some of the families that have allowed be to be part of their lives through portraits.

I have been privileged to be a small part of my clients life through portraits but I want one family to have me as their own personal paparazzi, to capture more than just a few moments of there short lives. .
Count me in for the contest. Would love to have more photos by Danielle!
Not sure if I post here or above so I thought I would cover my bases
I think I did it all correctly! thank you for the awesome contest!
Danielle ~ I have to start by saying that I am so impressed with your innovative ideas to promote your business and am touched by your committment to give so generously of your talents and profession to so many impactful organizations. You are not only a true and yes, rare, these days professional photographer but someone that we are proud to know and someone that inspires me to be a better person. This blog post hit home with me – thank you! As I look back on the past three years in which you have documented the aging of our girls, I am so fortunate to have these memories captured in the photographs you have taken. Your talent and expertise in photography and your natural ability to bring out a child’s personality and then capture their souls in a photograph is a beautiful gift to families. Can some other hobby photographer take an amazing photo? Yes, but can they truly capture our child’s soul? No and that is well worth the investment. You are part of our family, Danielle and you will be as long as you stay in this business and for that, we thank you!
What an amazing giveaway! We’d be thrilled for sure!

I don’t know what to say, but this would be such an amazing opportunity!! It’s not everyday that you meet someone who wants to help capture your everyday moments! As a single mother, I am always behind the camera, and very rarely in front of it
I’ve completed all the steps! Thank you for the opportunity!
This is so great – when we moved away I never though I could have you photograph us again. I hope we win!!!
Hello! What a great idea this is! We have two children. A one year old and a five year old. They are both just all sorts of fantastic! The one year old is very much a girly girl who loves reading books, playing catch with balls, slides, and climbing anything possible. Our five year old has a rare medical condition since birth and is treated at Milwaukee Childrens Hospital. We make the trip into Wisconsin more than we would like, but are greatful for all they do for her. She has some special needs/developmental delays as well so it can sometimes mke for long days. She is very academically smart and ahead of her class in that way so we are always keeping her challanged! We take her horse back riding once a week for therapy and she just loves it. With all of this going on, for me to lug a camera around for photos is pretty tough to do, therefore our walls are a bit bare! I am fortunate enough to have the privledge to be a stay at home mom with the girls and we count our blessings every day!
I wish you the best in all that you do and I hope that whomever you chose, will value the experience every minute of the day as it is something to never be forgotten.
Take care!
-Catherine

Great idea. We would love to have you photograph us!
I know it would be a trek for you, but Pennsylvania is a great state! (We just moved here from Madison in January.) We have a creek in our yard, and I’m sure spring will allow for some crazy, muddy moments with my two toddler boys. (And yes, I did all the other steps.)
This is an awesome idea!! Would feel so lucky if we won!
Danielle,
I’m so excited about your contest. Our family just recently moved from Arizona and I’ve been searching for a photographer and came across your website! Enjoyed looking at your portfolio and really like your work and style. P.S. I posted my comment on my fb page but it wouldn’t Allie me to tag your fb page
I liked the page and tagged the image, now I’m going to post that msg on my wall. I would love to win this. My kids are 4 and 2 and we’ve never had pics of the family.
