Ladies Night Out -Take One – Creativity

I am a women, wife, mother, caregiver, friend, sister, daughter, business owner, entrepreneur….and the list goes on. And this lady needs a night out. Do you?

What better why then to take a night off by celebrating with Ladies Night Out at the studio. I thought about calling it “Moms Night Out” but thought we have enough time being moms; not enough time being women, spending time away from motherly duties and hanging out with other ladies being crafty and creative.

What makes a family? Part 2 of Brotherly Love

Family can be the most important part of what makes your world go round and round. If you are one of the lucky ones that has a supportive and loving family, that kind of family is all that you need in this world to be the best you can be. Because you know that whatever happens, they will support you and give you the thumbs up, or tell you exactly what you need to hear, when you have made a life decision that play out in the negative.  If you read yesterday’s post about Cameron and Kieran, you will see, that what makes them unique, is as much genetic, as it is their loving and supportive family. And since Mom wanted to make sure she got a few images of her with the boys, I wanted to tell the story of them as a family through portraits.

And we did get a chance to photography big sister as well. She was quite the model and enjoyed being beyond the lens, she even played around on the couch jumping in one of the studio’s tutus but I will leave those images off the blog since I know what it was like to be a 11 year old girl.

And here makes three siblings; three people who will depend on each other from now until death because family is forever. There will be times when they do not agree, when they do not see eye to eye, but they will love each other enough to respect those times of indifference but still be supportive as family should be.

And remember, we can be ourselves and see the positives in our life, or we can chose to let our difference define us. The noise from the drum can be soothing, distressful or full or inspiration, not matter what drum you listen too. So take time to appreciate your family, and be supportive and loving, even when your family is not loving and supportive back. I am honored to be able to showcase the boys on the blog and enjoy a few more pictures of Cameron and Kieran just hanging out at the studio.

That smile is pure innocence and unconditional love, don’t you think?

Do you know someone on the Spectrum? Stories of Autism International Project looking for portrait models

Sometimes things happen for a reason; and we may not understand, why or how, but we are blessed to be part of each other’s lives.

This past week, having been through a challenging past couple of months personally, I heard about this great project from another local photographer called Stories of Autism. Why did this project strike such a chord with me? Why, you ask, do I feel the need to throw everything I am into this project? Sometimes what comes from an overwhelming struggle, is nothing but light, openness and acceptance. I feel like this project is what I need to rise about the fight and give back.

How to give back – Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Being a mother first and photographer second, I feel that life is not worth living if you can not touch the lives of others and make a postitive impact. That being said everyone should find a charity or organization that they hold near and dear and give something, anything, if not a call, a shout on social media, a donation, some of your time or talent.  A volunteer organization Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep,  that I am an affliated photographer and coordinator for one of the local hospital, was featured on our news for a local family I serviced who experienced a pre-term loss. For those of you who are not familiar with NILMDTS, this wonderful organization has more than 2,000 volunteer photographers who donate their time and talent to provide complimentary infant bearvement portraits for families who babies will not leave the hospital. Many ask, how do provide the service for such a tragic experience. I often hear, “it must be so emotional” or ”you must be so strong” and all I can think of is that how emotionally it is for the family and how strong they need to be to grieve the loss of a child. Every life has a story to tell, if only for moments and as a photographer, my job is to document that story. It reminds of a quote that I try to live by, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away- Anyomous” That being said please take a few minutes out of your day to watch this inspiring story about this precious baby named Mikayla Grace and check out the amazing non profit that her mother started to give back to other families with angel memory boxes. And keep some tissue hand, this story should make a positive impact on your life and your tears ducts.
